About the Author

Peter Thompson, PhD, has been a licensed and practicing school psychologist for 20 years in Colorado's Douglas County School District. He holds multiple advanced degrees in various subfields of psychology, such educational psychology, school psychology, and a doctorate in psychology with a school- neuropsychology concentration. Dr. Thompson has held leadership positions as a traumatic brain injury team coordinator, lead psychologist, threat assessment trainer, Colorado State Steering Committee member, and a school-neuropsychological assessment specialist. Colette B. Hohnbaum, PhD, NCSP, is a licensed school psychologist who currently teaches at the University of Colorado, Denver Campus (UCD). She retired after 35 years as a practicing school psychologist covering preschool through graduation primarily in Colorado's Douglas County School District (DCSD). She served as the Mental Health Coordinator in DCSD from 1991–1997 and from 2012–2017.
